Planning for Spring Camporee
Tonight the Troop worked on preparing for the Fort Hamilton District Spring Camporee and the skills that will be required for the competition. The theme this year is "In Uncle Dan's Footsteps" and will focus on Scouting's Traditional, Basic Skills. Those skills include fire building, First Aid, Knots & Pioneering, Cooking and Signaling by semaphore. The boys divided into small groups and discussed what is needed to be successful in each area. Next week is Activity Night at Columbia Lanes, but the following meetings leading up to Spring Camporee will be dedicated to practicing these skills for the camporee. Whether attending or not, these base skills are something every scout must learn and can use refreshing if they have been scouting for a while.
A reminder - no meeting during the week of Spring Break (April 6).
